Image: Hallie Wright and Shreena Pradhan placed first and third, respectively in the '5 min oral + poster' competition in the C07 Division at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Crop Science Society of America in Baltimore, repeating their excellent performance at last year's CSSA meeting. Hallie presented her research on identifying fungal avirulence genes and cognate host resistance genes for blast disease in finger millet. Shreena works on salt tolerance in zoysiagrass and presented her recently completed high density genetic map as well as the results of a QTL analysis and the causal gene she identified for purple coloration of stolons and seed heads, a trait that was segregation in her mapping population. Congratulations to both!
