Image: Alex Johnson and John Spiekerman were awarded the degree of 'Doctor of Philosophy' during the Spring 2019 Graduate Commencement Ceremony. Alex' dissertation was entitled 'The role of microRNAs in regulating arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis in Panicum virgatum. He has lined up a Post-doc position with Wayne Parrott in the Institute of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics at UGA. John's dissertation was entitled 'Mechanisms of salt tolerance in the halophyte seashore paspalum. John is continuing his research on seashore paspalum in the Devos Lab as a Post-doctoral Research Associate.
